saw an obama 2012 sticker on the back of a motorized wheel-chair, driven by a lady with a face that could turn milk sour, wearing an oxygen tube. wonder how she feels about him now?

Hey! You're forgetting that we Liberals live off of your hard earned money and food stamps. Oh and we make virgin sacrifices to Stalin, Lenin, and Mao :P

No but seriously, I can think of a lot of worse things than Obama. Iran getting a nuke... Russia forming the Eurasian Union... stuff like that. I mean, let's give the guy SOME credit in that the economy is somewhat improving albeit very slowly. He did give the order to kill Osama when Bush declared Bin Laden wasn't a priority.

Does he have problems? Certainly. I'm disturbed by the signing of the NDAA of 2012 which enshrined indefinite detention of US civilians if they were suspected of terrorism. I'm also highly disturbed at the Libya thing due to it not having Congressional approval, but then again, he could've been using the Bush Doctrine policy which is also equally dubious in constitutional authority.

But honestly though? What disturbs me most is the highly polarized atmosphere that has generated as a consequence of this president's election. Though I despise it, I think it's incredibly tasteless so many people have made jokes about killing the President, whether it's the random yupee screaming "Pretend it's Obama!" to Santorum when he was at a shooting range or Foster Friess saying "There are a lot of things that haven't been hammered at because Rick and Mitt have been going at each other. Now that they have trained their barrels on President Obama, I hope his teleprompters are bullet-proof."

I mean, have we become so barbaric in our disagreements that we have to now sit back and fantasize about killing Presidents? I mean hell, Bush wasn't liked by many, but at the end of the day he was still the President and maybe he got death threats on occasion but still it wasn't anything like this. Hell, even Reagan wondered if the doctor who was operating on him was a Republican. The guy was a staunch Liberal and worked his ass off to keep Reagan alive. I dunno... it just seems quite contrary to the class all of us as Americans have had in the past to see how far our political discourse has gone down.

Granted, I'm probably not going to convince you of anything and it's not my goal, I'd just prefer to show that there is another side to Liberals that you don't seem to want to see. :/

True there is another side to libs, but the public one is not pretty. MSNBC, ABC,CBS,CNN. Movies about killing Bush. Compare neg vs. pos. news about Dems & Repubs. The drastic double standard or lack of standards libs have.

I'm not going to convince you, but try looking in the Liberal mirror before condescending.

Did it honestly not occur to you the first part was just me making a self-depreciating joke? If it came across as condescending, that's on you as you allowed yourself to feel like I was talking down to you.

As for double standards, let's not pretend that the Republicans don't have their own shall we? I mean let's go to Reagan for example. Iran-Contra. If we're gonna hold Obama accountable for Fast and Furious then we simply must hold Reagan accountable for that scandal. Or if the Republicans are gonna crucify Anthony Weiner for the sex pics then let's crucify every Republican who's solicited sex on Craigslist or better crucify Newt Gingrich over a number of things he's done whether it's the ethics violation or the infidelities in marriage.

If you're referring to that British Mockumentary thing, then really what's so bad? I mean really... all it's doing is explaining that things could ALWAYS be worse, and let's be real. Dick Cheney as President is almost a frightening concept if only for his assertion that the Executive Branch should be able to override the other two branches of the Federal Government.

But, I think you and I could both agree that the Westboro Baptist Church is utterly distasteful in their criticism of ANY president whether it's Obama or Bush, Conservative or Liberal.

True. Nobody claims to support Westboro. I think there are less than 20 in the thing.

It's like maybe a hundred or so and 80% are just the family. Thing is, it's extremely weird that they claim to hate America yet cloak themselves in the Constitution when it suits them. Now, granted, they have every right to do as they do. Doesn't mean anyone has to like it.

But back to the whole issue, I think it's just natural human instinct to have a double standard to things. So really, I can't fault anyone who has one. I'm guilty of it myself.

But, I have to wonder, why do you support Reagan or Churchill? I mean Churchill alone supported the idea of a national bank and national healthcare. Then Reagan's whole thing as Governor, I'm shocked no one calls into question, legalizing abortion, then as president, raising taxes eleven times? I mean, don't get me wrong, Reagan was a cool president in a lot of ways, plus you gotta love his jokes.

But... what I think is horrible in American politics is no side seems willing to come together anymore. Reagan somehow was able to get Democrats to go along with his ideas. But, it doesn't seem like anyone wants to work to get the country afloat.

Whether it's a New Deal or whatever, we need our infrastructure rebuilt and I've yet to understand why no president has yet to suggest rebuilding roads, schools, and bridges. I mean, honestly, that's my idea of welfare reform. Make it workfare for the ablebodied, the genuinely disabled and elderly obviously would need to be exempt. But, it would help get the freeloaders off of welfare and would also get the country rebuilt through productive use of taxpayer money.
