Union Beggars cartoon

I just saw an article where utility workers from Alabama who went to New Jersey to help out were turned away because they're not union. So, even though the workers in New Jersey are severely undermanned, they still won't allow non-union workers to help pick up the slack.

Ya know, if I was one of those residents up there, stranded in my house for days with no electricity or running water, and the food in my refrigerator slowly going bad, and I found out that part of the reason for that was because help was being turned down because of some union bureaucracy, I'd be royally pissed off.

Elections do matter, and I hope the residents of New Jersey remember this come election day. Unlikely, but we can always hope.
