I really have no idea why you people look up to this man.

In my country we have a name for people like Reagan; Terrorist.

This man and his administration sold guns to Iran and then used allow U.S. intelligence agencies to fund the Nicaraguan Contras with the money name from the Iran arms deals.

You Americans get away with so much evil. You are a terrorist country.

Yeah, I remember how the USA stood around and let Hitler and Stalin take over the world.   We terrorists like to stick together.

So because the USA fought in WW, Reagan isn't a terrorist? Yeah, great logic there.

You're country has many states with capital punishment right? Reagan should have got the chair. Thousands of south American children were gunned down by guns given to their killers by the US. But never mind. You can get a cheeseburger for $1 in under a minute in the US so it's all good.

It does poke a small hole in the theory that the USA is a terror state.

Likely tens of thousands of children were saved.  Capital punishment is for convicted criminals not for people who oppose the stupidity that is Socialism.

I can get a cheeseburger in seconds for just a dollar thanks to capitalism.

no hippies please.

How so? Can terrorist regimes not fight facist dictatorships? Your argument is not only fallacious but nonsensical.

Likely tens of thousands of children were saved by the US funding the contras and giving weapons to Islamic extremists in Iran? Fuck. How are you people allowed to be so uneducated.

I say that everyone who supported Reagan should get a free corpse of a child killed by the contras in the post to remind you what you supported.

 Human Rights Watch released a report on the situation in 1989, which noted some of the tactics the contras used;

  • targeting health care clinics and health care workers for assassination
  • kidnapping civilians
  • torturing civilians
  • executing civilians, including children, who were captured in combat.
  • raping women and forcing sons to rape mothers.
  • indiscriminately attacking civilians and civilian houses
  • seizing civilian property
  • burning civilian houses in captured towns.

Your president supported this shit.

Human Rights Watch is a sham.  Always has been.   Don't see it changing.   UN is as big a sham.  Most folks know this.

You need to read what Reagan wrote and did not what others say he did and wrote about him.   Socialists hated him so what kind of picture do you think they painted?   Washington, Lincoln, Reagan - in that order.

Stop believing Socialists and look at facts and results.   You will be happier and not so mediocre.

So you're saying the contras didn't kill children, massacure civillians and torture innocent people? Shit, do you even know who the contras are? I'm guessing no.

How about you fucking look at the facts.

Your president gave arms to Iran and then funded the contras.
This man
:iconreaganplz:
Is fucking evil

Tell me, do you think giving arms to Iran or funding Nicaraguan contras is okay? If Norway did this, would that be okey-dokey?

Times change. Alliances change.  An enemy today could be a friend tomorrow.

How about stepping out of your self- righteous toybox and joining the adults.  Stalin was an ally for a while.  This is the world of adults.  You know, the ones that matter and make decisions.  The ones outside the nursing home.

no hippies please.

I'm meh regarding Reagan's policies, but he was a VERY influential man.

Speaking of which, Bob Dole literally said on an interview with Fox News that, if a guy like him or Reagan were to run for the GOP today, he said "We could have made it, but I doubt it."

Bob Dole ran for president promoting stuff like the Clean Air Act and the Violence Against Woman Act that the Tea Party GOP wants to destroy. THAT is how much the GOP has changed in 14 years.

I now call them the Grand Unelectable Party.

Dole is senile and wrong. He was a bad candidate and milquetoast. GOP sucks now because they are trying to buy votes just like Liberals - and it is impossible to outspend a lib.

We’re going to close the unproductive tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share. In theory, some of those loopholes were understandable, but in practice they sometimes made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying ten percent of his salary, and that’s crazy.

You make me sick.
I cant believe the hypocrisy with you lot.
On one hand you scream about Obama raising taxes and he's a socialist or worse but when confronted with your conservative hero saying things in an almost identical mannor your cool with it.
You just want it both ways, you and your views have no credibilty what so ever, none.
Your cool with Reagan raising taxes but when Obama wants to raise taxes to lower than the levels of reagan you scream blue murder.
You dont care about this country, you just want power.

Reagan was a good president; not equal to the earliest presidents, but one of the best, if not THE best, 20th century president.

Yes, he was the equal to FDR.

Eh, FDR was strong enough to help bring America through WWII, which is a pretty good achievement. Most presidents wouldn't be strong enough to do that. It's been said that the man Hitler hated most was FDR. IF that's true, then FDR was a great president. XD

I wonder how many people in the world today are free because of things Reagan did or said during his life.
Most of my favorite stuff of his comes from the 1960s.

Review some of those speeches (they're on YouTube) with just some minor changes he could give the very same speech today and just as relevant. Including the 1964 speech on behalf of Barry Goldwater.

Yes. I've heard many of those speeches. They were great. Yes, change some names and numbers and they apply today. They should be played in civics class if they taught that anymore.

Not many close to him today.

Might not have the "Great Communicator", but for practicality purposes I'm looking at Governors that have taken a state in huge deficits and bankrupt and turned them around.

Currently I'm keeping an eye on Mitch Daniels in Indiana (lowered taxes, killed the debt there, repealing laws).
Rick Perry in Texas gets talked about a lot. People fleeing New York and California are going there or Florida.
Tim Pawlenty in Minnesota is a Republican getting himself elected on a fairly conservative platform in a very blue state.

Reagan is not a perfect man indeed, but I can tell you, Reagan was a blessing for America and the world, not a curse. There will be never be a person like him, but I think it's time you American people find someone who can fit Reagan's shoes, and not that man in the White House who doesn't know he's really hated by other Americans because he's trying to ruin their country.

I think he was one of the worst US Presidents that ever lived. He was a war criminal who sold weapons to both Iraq and Iran which only fuelled a war which cost over one million lives. He funded the terrorists of both then and today. And are we forgetting Iran-Contra?

I personally do not have a view of him. Since I would need to research more about the pro's and con's he brought to the US but I was watching a documentary about the economy and he is the president that hired a guy who helped bring down the economy to what it is today (And a few presidents after him as well)...

Ah, the movie is called Inside Job.
