Nobody is buying it, Mr. President. The Press eagerly swallow what you are shoveling but the American people are on to you.

The modern day Edsel. They won't sell even with $7,500 - 10,000 subsidies. Is a mandate far away?

America doesn't deserve such a fine automobile. Make the French buy it.

Elections matter.

And those failures did not even come w/ a $7000+ government subsidy. Elec has its uses but for cars the way Americans drive they are not adequate. Until batteries can recharge in 3 mins....

In the early 1900's, we had electric cars, yet in 2012, for some reason they are impossible? Not buying that. If America is going to break free of big oil, electric cars is the change needed, the change Obama promised back in '08.

Of course, this is the least important election since... yeah, it's pretty much a pointless election. Almost Corporate Robot incumbent vs the Corporation itself. Lose Lose for the people.

Electric cars were dismissed then because they are not suited for the American road. They are good for the golf course & retirement homes. The sooner hippies realize (again) this the better.

I believe the proper term is 'Bohemian' when referring to the time period in question :XD:

But, in all seriousness.

Why aren't they suited for the American road.

Back in the 1910's, electric cars dominated the market. Then oil boomed in Texas, and the government heavily subsidized gas powered cars, and eventually, the technology caught up and sales of gas powered cars passed those of electric powered cars. The same thing could happen in reverse between now and 2030.

If you put both the volt and a gas powered equivalent on the same playing field and the volt wins, then that's simply how it works.

They found something much better. Govt did not subsidize gas cars.

Battery tech is only 30% of where it must be. They Obama Volt is not on the same "playing field" - the Obama Volt has a $7500+ taxpayer funded credit - and it still loses. It can't even make the low, low projections Obama set - even w/ GE (his crony company) buying a bunch.

Obama the modern Edsel.

Well, make up the extra 70%, and you have a long term fix to your 4$ per gallon gas ;) I understand gas powered cars will be around for a long time Volt or not, but they have to end at some point in my life time. Why not start that change now?

At least, the Gaia hypothesis (in a nutshell, every time a resource starts to run low or gets expensive, technology allows us to use a new one to replace it) dictates so, and I believe in it personally.

Simile:
The volt's battery (there have been a few cases) will spontaneously catch on fire just as the US economy under Obama's fiscal policies will start to burn up and be reduced to ashes.

It might take us all with it.
