I see a lot of people here who reject this notion that you've portrayed because the modern government has access to bombs, the latest in surveillance technology, armor, and the best weaponry. That might be so, but remember that there were these people about 238 years ago who faced a similar situation and triumphed. The situation isn't a new thing- history is filled with examples just like it.
We're lucky, though, because there's still plenty of time for Americans as a group to get a job/learn something, gain a backbone and find an inch of lost moral fibre- I think then we'd all wake up to a better nation. I mean, c'mon- we're the same people who conquered a continent, defeated the 18th century's greatest superpower, became the greatest superpower ever to sit on the Earth, wiped out many of the world's most ancient diseases, and landed on the moon. You'd think we could do better, right? I mean, sure, the second amendment is there to depose a tyrant, but wouldn't it be better if we could avoid inserting the tyrant in the first place?
That's nice- now come up with some facts and evidence. "Teahadists" is cute and all, but this is a serious subject, so I'd expect a little more out of you. You can begin by explaining how defending the second amendment is justification for any kind of terrorism.
History repeats itself- the Roman writer Cicero wrote about things like excessive welfare, interventionism, not securing borders, declining moral fibre, a rampant debt and a corrupt government; things that modern liberals today don't recognize. The problems that felled the Romans weren't unique to them; you can trace those threads all throughout human history, but liberals as a whole don't want to look for the answers to their problems. It's inevitable that the government of today will follow in the footsteps of the failed empires of yesterday. The question is what we're going to do about it. People like John Boehner want to submit, but they won't realize till the end that by affranchising evil, they support it.
Of course none of that is directly about guns, but it doesn't take a genius to realize that disarming an innocent population of their right to defend themselves not only has never worked, but can't work.
And then all those other people that the King had hired summoned the king's military to avenge his death.
A military with no ties to US citizens came in and put all the teahadists in internment camps where they were tortured and died horrible deaths.
Because that 'king' you're so scared of doesn't fuckin exist. Its called a government for a reason, there are legion and no amount of putting a bullet in any one of their heads will fix any mindless problems you think actually affect you.
We'd lose any revolution in a fuckin hurry. All they'd have to do is cry baby to the UN and that'd be it, we'd have other nations here tearing through your little pea-shooter's resistance and forcefully taking your little pacifier away.
So at the end of the day, while you're sucking on your toy there, why don't you just pull the trigger and do the rest of us a favor.
Wanna be a real conservative? Demand your leaders get rid of their guns, cut their defense budget, and stop over-paying fuckin' government employees. Conservatives like you make the real ones look bad. You're so fuckin worried about bullshit problems like this that the real problems go unchecked.
Then the peasants installed a liberal government that was able to provide them with health care, public education, a stable but free economy, a social safety net, equal rights for everyone, and reasonable gun safety laws that allowed the peasants to defend themselves but kept more dangerous weapons away from crazy people.
And then, as they slowly gave up the values that made them great in the name of security and dependency, the peasants awoke and found themselves serving a king twice as powerful as the one they had previously deposed.
Come on now, you and I both know how this story ends. Or maybe the better question is if it will ever end?
That depends what you determine as "liberal." The founding fathers were, by definition, liberal in one context while Obama is liberal by another definition. Modern "liberalism" is not protective of any freedom except for the freedom to practice thievery and abort children, and even then those operate under coercion and not choice. Look at the bill of rights in our constitution and count how many times modern day liberal governments, including our own, have violated them. No government in existence today can be held up as a perfect example of freedom, liberal or "conservative"... the sad part is that ours no longer come close.
You are right. It is very sad we do not come close to a more liberal government, because having a conservative dominated government has given us a nation where 1% of the population controls 95% of the wealth, corporations are allowed to polite are rivers and drinking water, bankers can scam their clients, mass murders are fine so long as no one offers reasonable gun laws and an entire news network dedicated to help maintain this corrupt and byzantium system that provides for the rich but condoms the poor. Also don't forget that for nation that prides it self on the separation of church and state we sure let a lot of religious nut jobs dictate who we can and can not marry.
And while we're listing liberal establishment accomplishments, there's also the right to be legally invaded by illegals and the right to have our votes nullified by fraud. C'mon Starlow-FTW, those are gems- how'd ya miss those?
I think you're right. Liberal governments are responsible for so many rights that we take for granted. Let's examine some of these: the right to be denied our fourth amendment rights in airports and our own homes, the right to be laughed at on the world's stage, the right to have our guns taken away from us by force, the right to "donate" the yoke of crippling debt to posterity, the right to live in a culture where murder is acceptable because the gun can be blamed instead of the person, the right for teacher's unions to screw children out of an education while child molesters are defended to the point of a sword, the right to be told that religious freedom no longer applies because religion offends people, the right to be told that freedom of speech no longer applies because it offends the government, the right to a collapsed economy, the right to worthless money, the right to wealth inequality (I know you said that, but it's thanks to inflation and socialism that inequality exists), the right to be told that other races and sexual orientations deserve protected class status in the name of "payback", the right to nationalized healthcare that doesn't work, the right to lose state's rights, the right to be deprived of habeus corpus if our beloved leader deems it necessary, the right to endless war, the right to pay more at the pump, and of course, the right to not have a job.
Whew- that was a lot. Here's the best part about it- being a democrat or a Republican has nothing to do with any of those rights we've been given. Being a Democrat or a Republican means that you've given yourself a category. Beliefs, though, matter more than party lines. Both establishments are pretty much slime at this point- the rest is just asking whether it's better to do the wrong thing with the knowledge that it's wrong, do the wrong thing and not care, or take a chance and do the right thing even though you know it'll be painful.
One: I am not a hippy (unlike Jesus) Two: You do not live in reality. You live in a world where Obama is both a weak, mom's jeans wearing pussy and an insane iron fist dictator and where giving poor people money some how makes them ass holes, while providing rich and profitable international privet corporations with government substitutes is a good thing despite all the the awful things they do to people. Also in your world somehow gun safety laws do not stop mass shootings despite all evidence to the contrary, and while total gun rights somehow stops a government with tanks, drones, an army that numbers close to the millions, and enough nuclear bombs to destroy the world by detonating them in their own silos, from ruling us with an iron fist. You live in a world where facts and logic do not apply, where human compassion makes people lazy, and that you are 100% right all the time despite having an IQ that would compare unfavorable to a retarded toilet and even that is an insult to the toilet.
Your point being? Hate to burst your bubble but of course major metropolitan areas would have high violence rates. Also to quote a wise man: Correlation doesn't imply causation. You cons avoid facts like you avoid responsibility.
